Working with hundreds of emerging authors led C.L. to develop the Global Plotting System Analysis (GPSA), a proprietary platform for developing a project, characters, and story. She’s pleased now to include GPSA in all her creative consulting services. From initial concept to final submission, including queries, synopses, and comps.
While she works with and loves all genres, her areas of particular interest are kidlit, mystery and crime fiction, and speculative fiction.

In addition to writing mysteries, C.L. is an award-winning children’s poet and author who writes under the pen name Cheryl Lawton Malone. After a successful career in biotech law, she obtained her MFA from Lesley University. Her children’s books include DARIO AND THE WHALE (2016), ELEPHANTS WALK TOGETHER (2017), and FEATHERITA (2024). DARIO AND THE WHALE is a Shelf Awareness Best Children’s Book of 2016, a Cooperative Children’s Book Center Winner for 2017, a Book Best Debut Picture Books of 2016, and a 2018 Mass Book Awards Must Read. It is now in its fourth printing. Her newest picture book, LITTLE KIT’S WISH will publish in summer, 2026.

Together with kidlit best seller Victoria J. Coe, C.L. founded an online teaching platform that offers writers a new way to get on track and stay on track, including tools, resources, and exclusive digital content. Their first publication, Writing Kidlit 101: A Self-Guided Course, released in January 2023. Their second book, Writing Kidlit 102: Your First Draft, released in 2024. C.L. knows how hard it is to write because she’s been there. She dreamed of writing kidlit while juggling kids and careers. Now, having sold more than 350,000 kidlit books between them, C.L. and Victoria can’t wait to help you achieve your dream.
